I added a few small changes:

1) There's an integration test that PUTs a new document (with a known ID)
2) The Persistable.save method now checks for a class level "create_id" method. If that method exists, it's used to create a document ID prior to saving. The document is subsequently saved with a PUT, rather than a POST.
