Vaio Fan Daemon

The Vaio Fan Daemon (vfand) will control the fan speed of your Vaio laptop to avoid overheating: at full speed when temperature is above a configurable value, and linearly otherwise (higher temperatures will run the fan at higher speeds). If the temperature is below a configurable value, the fan is turned off to make the computer as silent as possible.
